Troublemaker Games

I received a ton of figures from Troublemaker Games to review and the quality is top notch.  Almost zero flash, with clean detailed sculpts.

For those who love Epic (6mm scale), Troublemaker Games is a great resource.  The infantry for the most part fits nicely in with GW Epic.  The Skinnerz tend to be a good head taller than the GW Epic Ork infantry, but there are some really cool heavy armored troops that work perfectly as leaders.

Troublemaker Games also designs rules. Their first game, Timeline 300, is a 10mm scale Steampunk wargame with a resource management system.

As you can see below, the Troublemaker vehicles are much bigger than their equivalent GW Epic Space Marine counterparts, but should fit in nicely with GW Imperial Guard heavy tanks and vehicles.

Kill Team, Games Workshop

I am not a big fan of 40K or GW for numerous reasons including costs, constantly changing rules for marketing purposes, dropping gaming systems, fanboys and IMO stupid game play.  I do like the fluff and many of the models, but I often just buy on the used market rather than pay full retail.

A really cool game to come out of the 40K universe is called Kill Team.  It "is a fan-made unofficial expansion to Warhammer 40,000 that allows you to fight more intimate, more narrative driven games of Warhammer 40,000.   Instead of fighting across vast battlefields controlling armies of hundreds of troops, you take control of a small task force with a handful of men."

A cool blog to checkout is Heralds Of RuinThey have all the rules for Kill Team, Army lists and everything else one needs to play the game, well except the models.

I have decided to try and go old school and pick up a bunch of Rogue Trader Orks for a Kill Team.  The figures have a ton of character and many just look plain silly, but they have something about them that the current 40K figures don't.  Right now I have 3 of these Ork bosses and like to pick up a few more to round out the team.

Epic Armageddon

I have been in the Epic mode of late building an Orkish Epic army.

Epic is officially OOP (Stupid Decision), but that doesn't stop loads of people from playing.  For those that haven't tried Games Workshop Epic or for those that haven't played in a while, you might want to check these links out.

Epic Armageddon Compendium - This is the latest version of the rules and has army lists for the 40K universe.

Net Epic Army Compendium Calculator - This site has a great free army calculator for building out your Epic armies.

Epic Army Cards - These cards really help you know what the unit looks like and what it can do.  Very useful.

Epic Collectors Guide - Has a ton of images of all the Epic models produced.

Tactical Command - Fantastic Forum for all things Epic.

Here are places to find GW Epic Stuff
Amazon
Bartertown
ChaosOrc
Ebay
Tactical Command

Here are some great sites for finding alternative Epic sculpts

Onslaught Miniatures - Lots of alternative Epic figures.
Steel Crown Productions - Good site for alternative Epic.
Troublemaker Games - Great alternative Epic figures.

Now for those that have Supa Stompas, Steam Gargants laying around and don't know what to do with them, send them my way.

15mm Steampunk - Victorian Sci-FI - Martian Wars

This past weekend I attended a convention here in Austin called Millennium Con.  On Sunday the do a flea market and I was there selling off various miniatures.  A friend of mine was at the table next to me selling his stuff.  Near the end of the flea market, he had a few items that weren't sold, so gave them to me.  Very cool by the way.

One of the items was a set of 15mm figures from Highlander Studios Inc.  These were not just good sculpts, but absolutely amazing sculpts.

These guys got my Victorian Sci-Fi juices flowing. I already had a large collection of Martian Walkers, so I wanted to see what cool steam tanks these guys could use. I found 2 really good steam tanks

Werid War - MaxMini - The Green Alliance

Take 40K Orcs, transport them to Earth during WWII fighting for the Americans and you basically got MaxMini.eu version of what they call The Green Alliance. I have to say these look outstanding from the uniforms to the actual poses.

The Kickstarter includes Goblins, Orcs, vehicles and walkers. Depending on your pledge level, you get 1 bullet per $1 spent. These bullets can be used to purchase squads of Goblins, Orcs, vehicles and walkers. Bonus bullets are added to those who pledge more.

A pledge of $110 will get you roughly 1 squad of Goblins (15 bullets), 1 squad of Orcs (35 bullets) and a Sherman tank (40 bullets) + 20 bullets for shipping.

Of course you could nix the tank and get more squads of Orcs or Goblins.

Brian Slack - Xmarx RANA

Brian Slack from Xmarx.com has a cool little Kickstarter up.  The prices are really reasonable and the artwork looks great.

I have showcased several pieces from Brian and Have always been happy with them.  I expect that the walkers he is designing will be just as good.

Microworld Games, 6mm Hobgoblins & Trolls

Microworld Games has a bunch of new 6mm fantasy releases (hobgoblins and trolls) and things that go bump in the night. Rather cool figures for 6mm fun.  I like the troll cart.

Copplestone 10mm Dwarfs

Last week I received the 3 new sets of Copplestone Castings 10mm Dwarfs.  These figures are are absolutely gorgeous.  Crazy good detail at this scale.  The sets include Dwarf Warriors (Single And Axes/Swords and shields, Double hand Axes and shields, and Spears and shields).  Each set comes with a command banner and commander.  Each set can be used to setup 3 Warmaster stands worth of figures, which equates to 8 dwarfs per stand.

Now I wish Copplestone also made a few crossbowmen or bowmen sets and possibly some type of warmachines.

WTB Warmaster Swordmasters

Hey guys/gals,

I am in search of 2 units of Warmaster Swordmasters.  I am trying to build out my elf portion for my Lord Of The Rings armies.  I see they are selling on Ebay for $50 - $55 for 6 strips, but hopefully someone will be kind and allow me to either purchase them or trade fro them at a lower cost.

10mm Lord Of The Ring, LOTR

Today I thought I would share some links for those looking to build the ultimate 10mm LOTR Fantasy Armies.

Copplestone Castings - Probably the best 10mm line of LOTR like figures on the market today.  They have a huge selection of Orcs, Humans and now Dwarfs.

Magister Militum - Carries an array of 10mm fantasy figures.  Their greater orcs seems to fit in nicely with Copplestones.

Eureka Miniatures USA or Eureka Miniatures Australia - Eureka Miniatures produces the best 10mm Mammupach, with howdah going.  It is simply awesome.  There hobbits show a lot of promise, but their elves and humans are much smaller than Copplestones.

Tajima1 Miniatures - Makes a set of very cool 10mm Fantasy - Evil men of the East. These would fit nicely in with the Eureak Mammupach.

Other miniatures to check out are GW's Warmaster line and GW Battle of Five Armies

Marhaf Legion, PlasmaBlast Games

Well I finally got my new Marhaf Legion figures from Marios.  There was a mix up in addresses, but all is good.

I have to say these are some of the best 6mm vehicles I have seen in quite some time.  The detail is really really good.  The tanks fit in perfectly with the other PlasmaBlast Games Progenitor and the Orbital Combine armies.

Marios introduced a new size tank with the Marhaf Legion.  It's called the Maarghast - Heavy Assault Tank.  As you can see from the pictures below it's larger than the heavy tanks, but smaller than the Super Heavy Tanks.  The guns are massive and look like they could easily punch a hole in any vehicle that is out there including the Super Heavies.

I really love the look of the Marhaf Legion.  The figures are a little more detailed than the previous armies vehicles, but they still fit in very well with all of them.  As you can see there isn't any scale creep or anything that looks out of place.

Beyond the current vehicles, Marios says he is working on new designs and should have a few more figures out this year.  He has been working on another vehicle for the Marhaf Legion that is simply awesome and will be a must buy, regardless if you collect 6mm or not.  It is that cool.  I would give more intel, but it's under wraps right now.

Angel Barracks - Regional Defense Force

Looking for some nice 6mm Sci-Fi. Angel Barracks has some pretty sweet vehicles and troopers from their Regional Defense Force.  The tank variant is a prototype and not available yet.

DreamForge Games, Eisenkern Stormtrooper Conversions

I have been watching Clone Wars on Netflix (Awesome by the way) and wanted to get some clone trooper figures.  Well looking around it seems Wizard Of The Coast has probably the best set around, but they just don't feel edgy enough.

Well doing a little Google image searching I came across Agis Neugebauer's clone trooper conversions.  Agis always manages to amaze me with his painting and conversion skills.

He used the troops by DreamForge Games,(The Eisenkern Stormtrooper miniatures) and converted them with head swops using WotC Star Wars Clone Troopers.  I think Agis nailed it on the look of these guys.  Of course Mark Mondragon of DreamForge did an outstanding job with his cool Eisenkern troopers.  Combining Clone Trooper heads with their bodies make them super cool.
