Inquisitor 54mm Proxies

Since GW hasn't made Inquisitor models in quite some time, I decided to see if any proxies have been made.

So far I have come across 2 really good candidates.

Papah-Minis has an excellent Tau Alien type proxy called the Alien Commander 2.0.  Obviously a ton of work was put into this model and from the looks there are a ton of options you can choose from.

For those who love Squats, Sciborminiatures.com has some fantastic looking Ogres that are dead ringers for Squats.  They even have power fists.  With a little conversion you can even add a beard to these figures and you are good to go.

Ulrik von Octoberfest is a 28mm scale resin miniature. Height from Feet to Eyes: 51mm, total height with base 74mm.

Inquisitor Size Comparison

I had a bunch of GW (Games Workshop) Inquisitor models laying around and I finally got busy and pinned a bunch.  Yes you will need to pin them because at 54mm they are quite big.

It's a pity that GW only came out with one Space Marine pose.  I have another one that I am thinking about converting.  It will require the legs to be cut and maybe the arms for a different pose.  I will also need to get a Space Marine head.

Kings Of War - How To Play Videos

Recently Mantic Games did a Kickstarter for Kings Of War. They ended up with 2,747 backers and a pledge amount of $366,547.   Not too shabby.   Lately I have been going old school and collecting older GW Orcs, Chaos Dwarfs, Hobgoblins/Goblins.  Back in the 80's and early 90's GW seemed to make what I considered great sculpts with loads of character.  Some were of course rather goofy, but they were still fun.

Now I was never really into Warhammer, because it seemed the rules were always changing and you needed to be a lawyer to really get the most out of them. The other problem of course is Games Workshop seemed to write the rules for selling miniatures rather than writing the rules for people to actually play.  Every new army seemed to be better than the previous ones.  Armies that people had spent lots of money on would suddenly become obsolete. 

I have been watching Kings Of War grow and I thought it was time to give them a look.  From what I have seen thus far, the game looks really fun and streamlined.  You have heros, monsters and mass troops, just like in Warhammer, but the game play seems much better.  The basics are pretty easy to learn.  As a player you can spice your troops up with things that give them advantages and every race feels different. 

What is neat about Kings Of War is you really could use just about any fantasy figure from any manufacture you want.  Those who are GW Warhammer fans can always bring their armies and most of them are represented in the Kings Of War world.  We are talking about Forces of the Abyss, Forces of Nature, Undead, Dwarfs, Elves, Abyssal Dwarfs, Goblins, Orcs, Ogres, Basileans and the Kingdoms of Men.

Watching these 2 videos gives you a good understanding of the game mechanics and why it looks like a load of fun.

Age of Tyrants Comparison Shots

For those that are interested to see what some of the new Age of Tyrants vehicles look like compared to GW Epic, here are a bunch.  As you can see the vehicles are bigger than the Epic Space Marine Land Raider. 

Age of Tyrants - VASA Red Hammer

Age of Tyrants keeps marching on. VASA has a really large beast known as the Red Hammer. I am still waiting on a sample to arrive to showcase, but in the mean time, here is what it basically looks like.

The Red Hammer has essentially the same chassis as the KV18 Ikon.




John and the rest of the Age of Tyrants gang are working on how to best mass produce the figures. They have played around with both resin and metal, but really like the resin version.
