Age of Tyrants keeps marching on. VASA has a really large beast known as the Red Hammer. I am still waiting on a sample to arrive to showcase, but in the mean time, here is what it basically looks like.
The Red Hammer has essentially the same chassis as the KV18 Ikon.
John and the rest of the Age of Tyrants gang are working on how to best mass produce the figures. They have played around with both resin and metal, but really like the resin version.

Age of Tyrants
Just received some cool figures for the 6mm game Age of Tyrants from John Robertson of Myriad Miniatures.
The miniatures included the Age of Tyrants Junkers Exarch and a Viridian Dire Wolf. Both the Junkers and Viridians have several variants using the same vehicle bodies.
For the Viridians the Big Foot, Buffalo, Coyote, and Dire Wolf all are on the same tank chassis. Two additional vehicles are the Broadsword and Excalibur on a slightly smaller tank chassis.
For the Junkers they have names like Draco, Octoris falx, Octoris Incendia, Venator, Onager and the one I received called the Exarch. So far they use 3 different tank chassis
Right now there are 4 different factions including Junkers, Vasa, Viridians and Synthia. Junkers appear to be the most heavily armed and most heavy armored vehicles. Think GW dwarfs, slow but hard hitting. Vasa appears to be fast, but fragile. They probably don't have the punch of some of the other factions, but they can get there quick. Viridians seem to be a good all around army with reasonable armor and firepower. Synthia appears to again be fast and agile, but probably isn't as well suited for a full frontal assault on the Junkers. They remind me of GW's Eldar.
Both miniatures are very detailed high quality resin casts.
As you can see from the first picture, you will need to have a pair of clippers and possibly a file. I chose to use GW's Citadel Fine Detail Clippers to remove the excess resin.
You can find out all about Age of Tyrants by visiting http://www.ageoftyrants.com
For those that might remember, the Viridian tank looks similar to the old Warzone Bauhaus Tank, but with smoother lines. While the Bauhaus tank was sort of clunky, the 6mm Viridian tank is more refined and streamlined.

The Army Painter - Warpaints Quickshade Ink Set
Just received a bunch of items from The Army Painter including their new Warpaint Quickshade Ink Set, Wargamer Most Wanted Brush Set and . Over the next few weeks I will be experimenting with Quickshade ink set and brushes. I haven't figured out what I will do with the dice yet, but they look good for 6-siders.

Mordheim & Frostgrave
Frostgrave has me collecting all sorts of figures for a Frostgrave warband. What I have discovered is how so over priced Mordheim has become on Ebay. It's crazy out there. People are asking $30 - $100 for a single figure. What are they smoking? Why isn't GW seeing this and saying to themselves, hmmm maybe there is still demand for these figures. I can not understand how they couldn't make money selling these to people who are willing to pay 3 times as much.
Anyway here is a group of Mordheim Marienburg and Reiklander figures that I am going to try and replicate their paint jobs.

Gamezone Miniatures
In my never ending quest for cool miniatures I came across a company called Gamezone Miniatures. They are a Spanish company that has been around since 2002, but I never purchased anything from them.
They have some rather tasty human types in their Empire and Feudal Knight line. Their Feudal Knight line has several figures that would work great for Frostgrave.

Midlam Miniatures - Halflings
Just got in some samples of the Midlam Miniatures (http://www.midlamminiatures.co.uk) halfling set. The figures look fantastic with almost zero flash. The figures have round bases and the current of halflings comes from Midlam's Adventuring Folk line called the "Halfling Town Council". You can buy all 8 in a set or individually. The set is on sale for $15.52, a pretty good deal for some very colorful halflings.
The halflings match up really well with most other companies halflings. If you are looking for a set to spice up a town, these will work perfectly.
Below are several shots to give you an idea of size.
Battle Forge Halfling, Copplestone Halfling, Midlam Halfling and Reaper Halfling
Reaper Dwarf, The Viking Forge Dwarf, Midlam Halfling, Copplestone Wizard

Frostgrave Robbers, Thugs or Highwaymen
I am the process of trying to track down a few cool Robbers, Thugs or Highwaymen figures for Frostgrave.
Otherworld Miniatures has a fantastic human thug in their Non Player Character range called the NPCT7 – Tavern Bouncer.
I am still on the hunt for more guys like this.
Lead Adventure looks like they made some rather tasty thugs. Not sure if these are still available, since they didn't show up in their store. Could be out at the moment.
Citadel back in the day made some outstanding Thugs
Warlord Games has a few interesting figures in there Pike & Shotte.

CP Models
Been trying to find some thugs for Frostgrave.
One warband I am working on are the Pig Orcs from Otherworld Miniatures. While they have some fantastic pig orcs that I will be using for the Wizard & Apprentice, Knight and Marksman, I didn't think they had the exact figures I want for the thug selection.
CP Models has some that I think might workout.

Architects Of War - Fanticide
Just saw an interesting game called Fanticide. It's a ruleset and miniatures that look rather fun. It's by the same makers as the All Quiet on the Martian Front gaming system.

Wyrmwood Magnetic Dice Tower System
For those looking for a very cool dice tower, there is one currently on Kickstarter called the Wyrmwood Magnetic Dice Tower System that is about the best I have seen thus far. You have variety of woods to choose from.
I chose the Snakewood version, because I just happen to have $1500 laying around to spend on such things. Actually I am kidding, but hey if you're loaded spend away.

GW Fenrisian Wolves
I am not a big Fan of GW's pricing and sales tactics, but every now and then they have some really interesting figures.
I know these have been out for a while, but the 28mm Games Workshop Fenrisian Wolves are pretty Epic.

Frostgrave Review
After looking into Frostgrave, I am convinced it is going to be a pretty amazing game.
The essence of the game is to create a small group or warband of figures (Think Mordheim) and fight against another warband. The main character or leader is a Wizard. The Wizards can be selected from 10 different schools of magic. Obviously each school has it's own unique spells, which can be used during battles. Each Wizard can have an apprentice.
Once you have chosen your Wizard, you have 500 points to spend on your warband. The maximum number in the warband, excluding the Wizard is 8. Most warbands will probably have an apprentice (You don't have to use an apprentice, but it's probably best to do so) and that will cost you 200. The rest can be spend on various soldiers. A knight for example is 100. A thug will cost you 20. Once your warband is made, you're ready to fight
Your Wizard spells can be chosen using the following

Spells
Each Wizard belongs to a specific school of magic. Currently each school of magic has- 3 schools that are aligned with it
- 5 schools that are neutral
- 3 that are opposed
Your Wizard spells can be chosen using the following
- 3 spells from your own school of magic
- 1 spell from each of the other aligned schools of magic
- 2 spells from any of the neutral schools of magic

Pig Faced Orcs
These are 25mm scale, so they are smaller than the likes of Otherworld pig orcs, but work really well with the figures produced in the early 70's - 80's.
Otherworld Miniatures (http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/shop/product-category/pig-faced-orcs) - Probably the best looking most dynamic of the Pig Faced Orcs.
Fractured Dimensions - Produced a set of about 16 Pig Faced Orcs, however their current site seems to be down and I am not sure what the status is.
Mountain Miniatures has a set of Orcs that are completely compatible with the Fractured Dimension Orcs since they were sculpted by the same person.
