Crokinole
Over the weekend I scored a really old Crokinole combination board at an antique store. Actually Kathleen, my fiance spotted it. It was made by the Carrom Archarena Company here in the states around 1901-1914. Picked it up for $32. It was missing the pegs and discs, but I should be able to fix it up. Sort of cool thinking who might have used it way back then and how many owners it might have had.
For those that don't know, Crokinole dates back to the 1860s from somewhere in rural Canada. Crokinole is a game for 2 or 4 players (team of 2). The object is to score 50 to 100 points depending on the starting point value. In a 2 player game each player uses 12 discs and scores points ranging from 5, 10, 15 and 20. In Team play each person uses 6 discs. The object of the game is to position shooting discs on the playing surface in such manner that they remain within the highest scoring circles by the end of the round. Same scoring discs of opposing players/teams are removed and the remainder of points gets scored. Only one player or team will be able to score each game round. There will be rounds where no one scores and play continues until the magic score of 50 or 100 is reached.
Below is an example of a more traditional board, which is round rather than square.

DreamForge Games, Plastic
DreamForge-Games is going plastic
"Several months ago, I started searching for a way to improve the quality, lower the price and bump the production level to meet my customers’ expectations. I am happy to say that I have met and exceeded these goals. The Leviathan Crusader has made it to the pre-production phase (mold draft and parting line establishment for metal tooling) and is ready to become a plastic injected model kit. Not Resin, not Restic, not some soft plastic hybrid, but injected high impact styrene. The same kind of model kit you will find in any hobby store."

Reaper Miniatures, Kickstarter
If you want to get an amazing deal on Reaper Miniatures, check out their Kickstarter. For the $100 Vampire Level you will be getting well over 100 figures. Besides all the cool Fantasy figures, they have started to throw in a bunch of Chronoscope 28mm Sci-Fi figures (at least 16). Some of their add-on are crazy good deals as well. They have already reached 1/2 a million and could easily hit million the way things are progressing. It is an insane value.

The Department of Fabrication Management
The Department of Fabrication Management is a tabletop miniature game set in a near future America where Fabricated Human Simulants, also known as fabricants, walk among us. Players take on the role of agents from the U.S. Department of Fabricant Management, a government department charged with policing fabricants and fighting the increasing instances of fabricant-related terrorism. The Department is meant to be the first tabletop police procedural game that requires no Game Master to play. Players will use sleuthing, investigation, interrogation, and combat to hunt down and stop fabricant terrorist cells.
The miniatures are 15mm and look great. Miniatures are sold in sets of 2 for £ 2.00 or £3.50 for the 6 figure set.

I have been following AntiMatter Games - DeepWars for some time now and they just came out with some really great looking sculpts. They have something running on their site similar to a KickStarter project via Paypal for Pre-Orders and Extra Rewards. They seem to have an incredibly talented team of sculptors, painters and designers. You can actually order some of the figures right now. Go check them out.
