Retro Raygun, Hydra Miniatures

Hydra Miniatures is going to be releasing a new ruleset called Retro Raygun for their Sci-Fi Hydra Miniatures line.

Hydra Miniatures is pleased to announce that we are entering the editing and layout phase for our upcoming rules, Retro Raygun: Action Adventure in the Atomic Age. These rules are the second system to take place in Hydra Miniatures’ “Retroverse,” and feature the same background and characters as our acclaimed War Rocket rules.
Like War Rocket, the Retro Raygun system is chartless, has no record keeping and minimal token usage to keep the table from getting cluttered. Retro Raygun features alternating unit activation to keep both players involved in the action. In order to capture the cinematic feel of the pulp sci-fi era, all action is elegantly resolved by a special opposed dice mechanic known as the Raygun Roll-off.
Retro Raygun will feature complete force lists for the Galacteers, Robot Legion and the Valkeeri. In fact, our ranges for these three factions will be completed in time for the release of the rules, so fans who collect our Retro Raygun miniatures can start playing right away.
The rules will also feature a brief history of the “Retroverse,” eight special objective-based scenarios, and a Cosmic Bestiary so you can include alien creatures like the Aquaclops and the Slishians in your games. The full-color rulebook will be released in August 2014, and the retail price is yet to be determined.

Plasmablast Games, Marhaf Legion

Just got an email from Mario over at Plasmablast Games.  He had some exciting news about the Marhaf Legion.  These represent the 3rd 6mm army in the Plasmablast Games lineup.

It has taken Marios about 2 years to get them to this point.  They are very intimidating without being over the top.

Prices range from 1.7€ for the medium tanks to 3.8€ for the double track heavies.

Mario will be adding more options to the Marhaf Legion, Progenitor and Orbital Combine later this summer.

Crann Tara Miniatures, Monolith Graven Images

Crann Tara Miniatures have just announced that they will be releasing the Monolith Graven Images range.  For those that don't know about these figures, they are 40mm, so they will not fit in with your 28mm games.  The figures have a very different style to them, but are simply amazing IMO.

Here are some cool examples of figures that were sculpted.  I am not sure if all these will be available or not.

To see more images go check out Jim Bowen's Graven Images.  There is also a Yahoo Group that has quite a few images.

Dark Star Games Sci-Fi Vehicles

Dark Star Games is coming out with a really nice set of 15mm Sci-Fi vehicles. These are resin and the cost seems really good.  $20 for 5 vehicles.  Since they are resin, so doing conversions on them will not be a problem.

You can find out about them from Dark Star Games

Heer46, E-50 E75

Just received some pretty slick tanks from Denis over at Heer46.  If you don't know, Denis has taken task to bring us some very cool tanks and vehicles from WWII. These were prototypes or pre-productions, but due to mechanical problems or resources or both were never manufactured or used on a wide scale.

The vehicles are 15mm and are completely compatible with Flames of War and Forged In Battle. Denis provided me with 2 very large German tanks in the E-50 and E-75 category.

Each tank comes in a nice cardboard box with foam. The tanks are a mixture of resin and metal. The Guns and a little antenna are metal. All other items (tracks, turret and hull) are resin.

The E-50 comes with a single barrel, while the E-75 came with 2.

I found that everything fits together nicely and I didn't have to file anything. I suppose if I was a perfectionist, I might try a little filing, but I thought everything looked good as is. The resin retains plenty of detail. I would rate Clockwork Goblins resin as the best standard I have seen. Heer46's resin is not as good as theirs IMO, but it looks good just the same.

The guns have square inserts and fit nicely when placed into the hulls. The Tracks had 3 tabs that fit to the hull and were super easy to attach. I like to use green stuff to hold the parts in place while the glue has time to dry.

The guns are huge on these beasts as you should be able to see in the pictures below.

Each Turret comes with a pretty long peg, but the E-75's turret + the gun make it a little top heavy, so you have a few options.  Get a really strong magnet set (this will require you to cut the peg), Glue the turret down or try to rig something underneath the turret to hold it in place with the peg still attached.  Another option is to chop the peg and add a new on that is longer,  You will still need to attach something to the end of the peg to keep the turret from coming off.
